Review Long Way Home

Oh my goodness, "Long Way Home" by Tanisha Stewart and Carrie Bledsoe completely blew me away! From the very first page, I was hooked. That initial scene – Nadine’s trip to the mall turning into a nightmare – is so perfectly crafted to grab you by the throat and refuse to let go. The authors masterfully build this incredible suspense, and honestly, my heart was pounding the entire time. I found myself completely absorbed in Nadine's desperate search for her son, Benji. I felt her fear, her frantic energy, her unwavering determination – it was visceral.

The pacing is phenomenal. It never lags, constantly keeping you guessing, twisting and turning the plot in unexpected directions. I spent the entire book trying to figure out who took Benji, throwing out suspects and theories only to have them completely shattered by the next shocking revelation. I loved how the authors played with my expectations; just when I thought I had a handle on things, they’d throw in another curveball, leaving me breathless and desperate to know what happened next. The emotional rollercoaster was intense! There were moments of pure terror, heartbreaking desperation, and even flashes of hope that kept me flipping the pages. I felt a deep connection with Nadine and the other characters; their emotions were so raw and believable, it felt like I was living the story alongside them.

By the halfway point, I was an absolute mess of emotions. My adrenaline was still pumping from the initial shock, but now it was mixed with a profound sense of anxiety, anger, and a desperate yearning for Benji to be safe. The authors brilliantly weave in moments of quiet reflection that gave me a chance to catch my breath and process the escalating tension before the next wave of suspense hit. It’s a testament to their writing that they could elicit such a wide range of emotions in me. I was laughing, crying, screaming at the book (mostly at the kidnapper!), and pacing around my apartment – it was a full-body experience.

And then there’s the ending. Let’s just say it was… phenomenal. I won’t spoil anything, but let me tell you, I did not see that coming. It was a jaw-dropping twist that completely redefined everything I thought I knew about the story. It was satisfying, cleverly constructed, and left me both exhilarated and slightly stunned. The resolution felt earned, not contrived, and left me with a sense of closure that was incredibly rewarding after such an intense journey.

Overall, "Long Way Home" is a masterpiece of domestic suspense. It’s a fast-paced, gripping, and emotionally resonant read that will stay with you long after you finish the last page. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a thriller that’s both intelligent and intensely suspenseful. Ten out of ten stars, absolutely! I can’t wait to see what Tanisha and Carrie write next.
